la barca RESTAURANT

viale italico 3, forte dei marmi, lucca

The La Barca restaurant arrived at the shores of Forte dei Marmi in 1906, directly from the sea. It sounds like a joke, but it all started with Captain Leo Tacchella, who was transporting wine from Elba to the Fort, where his 'barca' docked and where he sold his goods. Some time later, the captain thought of opening a restaurant and La Barca was born. In 1969, Beppe - the peasant innkeeper, as he liked to call himself given his country origins - took over. In 1985, the helm of La Barca passed to his brother Piero, who, together with all the team, continues to wait for the customers in his restaurant today, ensuring that their stop at La Barca is special. Who knows, maybe somewhere Captain Leo is still awake and grinning with satisfaction...
